This is the story of how Patrick Woodhead and a couple of friends set out on an incredible expedition to reach the South Pole. Exactly 100 years on from Scott and Shackleton's ill-fated attempt, Patrick - who has explored unclimbed mountains in Central Asia, run ultra-marathons in the midnight sun and deeply offended several rhinos in Namibia - travelled 1100km into the forbidding interior of Antarctica and in doing so became part of the youngest and fastest team to ever reach 90 degrees South. And all with the help of some very large kites. Following this extraordinary expedition, from its birth (in a west London pub), through the organization, intense preparations, grueling journey and all-important beard-growing competition.
