Charles Wohlforth, a lifelong Alaskan, has been writing about his home as a journalist and author for almost 20 years. His two other books for Wiley are Frommer's Alaska and Frommer's Family Vacations in the National Parks, the latter of which covers parks across the United States and is based on insights from the Wohlforth family's own camping experiences. Wohlforth received wide critical acclaim for his book The Whale and the Supercomputer: On the Northern Front of Climate Change, which explores how Inupiat Eskimos and scientists are learning about and adapting to global warming in the Arctic. The paperback edition will be published in April 2005 by North Point Press. Wohlforth lives in Anchorage with his wife, Barbara; sons, Robin and Joseph; and daughters, Julia and Rebecca. He welcomes reader questions through his Web site, www wohlforth.net, which also contains other writings and travel advice about Alaska and links useful for setting up a trip.
