This is an exploration of Ireland and its people in the form of personal memories, family recollections and anecdotes. The author reviews the towns and people of his childhood, his fishing, bicycling and golfing exploits and recalls many splendid occasions including excursions to football matches and racecourses, family holidays in beautiful settings and, latterly, outside broadcasts and beauty contests. Above all he remembers the people - their characters, their quirkiness, their jokes and stories; the people who make Ireland the country which he is drawn back to today.
