The use of pipelines is the best solution to the problem of long or short distance transportation of a wide range of fluids, from true gases and liquids to multi-phase fluids and slurries. Recently, however, more extreme operating conditions in more geographically diverse areas, together with increasingly complex and difficult products, have challenged current pipeline technology. This book presents recent developments in methods, materials and legislation of pipe protection, and pinpoints future needs.
