This is a pocket guide to the sites associated with the 1798 United Irishmen Rising in Antrim and Down. Passionately egalitarian and fired by the ideals of the French Revolution, the rebels were no match for the military strength of the establishment and were soon defeated. Their memories and their ideals live on, however, and this guide is designed to accompany the reader on seven described tours of the battlegrounds, graveyards, buildings and other significant sites of the Rising in Antrim and Down in June 1798.
