This book presents a survey of traditional dress from all over the world, ranging - alphabetically - from Afganistan to Yugoslavia, from the Amish of Pennsylvania to the Zulus of South Africa. It provides a reference source of the regional and national costumes that are increasingly on the decline. More than 150 countries and cultures are included. The plates illustrate the clothes of men, women and children and in addition show in detail many of the characteristic decorative motifs and accessories. The accompanying text describes the costume, tells when and how it is worn, and also indicates the typical colours for each garment. R. Turner Wilcox also published "The Mode in Costume" and "The Dictionary of Costume".
