Broadcast News Writing, Reporting and Production examines the skills, techniques, and challenges of writing and reporting for broadcast. Along with complete coverage of the fundamentals, the text presents up-to-date examples and issues through actual scripts and interviews with the people who bring us the news. This edition includes such timely topics as the OJ Simpson trial and the Oklahoma City Bombing.
Broadcast News Writing, Reporting and Production contains the most complete treatment of reporting techniques and scripts by outstanding correspondents available in a broadcast news text. Famous journalists such as Betsy Aaron, Bob Dotson, Charles Osgood, Susan Stamberg, and Richard Threlkeld not only provided scripts for the book; they also discuss how they write and report. In addition there is an emphasis throughout on real-life situations. The problems that reporters, writers, assignment editors and producers face every day are discussed in detail.
Rezensionen / Stimmen
Book is extremely readable but still intelligent. Really like the use of recent news stories.
Some chapters need to be moved, e.g. why is "using the hardware" after "putting the TV story together"? Producing chapter needs beefing up. Needs more emphasis on use of internet for research.
Very user friendly - good practical guide to writing like the author.
Rises to the top in a poor field. Needs to be more critical. I'll be teaching both with and against it.
