This play is about Harriet Tubman who was born as an enslaved person in Maryland. She was hit with a thrown weight when she was a youth, leaving her with brain damage which caused seizures in later life, producing dazzling VISIONS. She escaped from slavery herself and then went back to Maryland THIRTEEN TIMES to rescue others. During the Civil War she led a military action, perhaps the first woman to do so.
