Letters from Moscow

This book is based on the private diaries of the New Zealand Ambassador to the Soviet Union, appointed in 1977. Originally written as letters to his children, it is a mix of political intrigue, keen observation, historical anecdote and travel story. Jim Weir joined the New Zealand Foreign Service in 1947 and spent 25 years on overseas missions - in New York, Ottawa, Canberra, Singapore, Rome and elsewhere as well as Moscow.
