The Actor's Script offers a clear, concise, and easily assimilated technique for script analysis that is specifically tailored to actors' needs and sensibilities. Included are techniques to make the script a powerful resource for creativity and passion; processes for breaking scenes into playable beats and actions; character analysis techniques; specific playwriting styles and periods; and numerous excerpts and applications from both contemporary and classic texts. Using a variety of plays, Waxberg illustrates a process for finding and utilizing main themes and ideas that can be used with any script. All of the discussions are applied to actors' unique needs with humor and clarity, yet with an emphasis on the intangibly intuitive side of the art form.
