"Illustrated dBASE" is an introductory guide to the current version of dBASE - dBASEIV - for all IBM and compatible microcomputers. It is not suitable for the very different product dBASE Mac which is available for Apple Macintosh computers. Ashton-Tate's dBASE is probably the most famous of all the database management systems for microcomputers, and one of the best-known programs of any kind. Buyers of the current version receive a comprehensive set of manuals and reference works. However, a rich, varied and powerful program such as dBASE can be taught and understood, as well as used, in many ways. This volume aims to provide the new user with a concise and practical guide to the basic features of dBASE, using explicit instructions and clear illustrations: it also seeks to convey some awareness of the potential of this enormously flexible and powerful program. After working through the examples in this book it is also hoped that the user will feel increasingly confident about tackling more complex tasks, and less in awe of the imposing volumes which explain them.
To use this book the reader simply follows the step by step instructions - which are summarised in the illustrations: helpful messages appear in the lower part of the screen.
