Environmental Law and Policy

This book has been written to satisfy the needs of students studying environmental issues. It provides a readable text covering the full range of topics under the environmental law umbrella - pollution control, species protection, rights of access to the countryside, etc - and discussion of the issues. In part I the student is introduced to the key concepts and the historical development of environmental law. Part II discusses planning law, agricultural policy, transport, energy, habitat protection and how integrated control over land use can be achieved. Part III covers legislation which protects native wildlife and affects fish conservation, including the EC Common Fisheries Policy. International treaties and trade in endangered species is also discussed. Part IV discusses the philosophy behind the legislation for pollution control, and reviews the current legislation in detail. Finally, Part V examines future trends.
