Waterways

Tying in with the Irish television series of the same name, this is an account of Dick Warner's leisurely journey by steam launch through the waterways and landscape of the north-west of Ireland. Through his commentary, Warner presents the complexities of the history, wildlife, landscape and politics of the area, and reflects on the vagaries of human nature. Niall Fallon's writings provide further insight into the past and the culture of the places visited. Together, the authors reveal little-known parts of the country, and consider how the linking of the waterways mirrors wider changes running through the heart of the island. The result is a portrait of the charm and character of the land, its people and its environment.
