Summarizing a large number of analytical techniques in doping detection, this book covers both the latest methods as well as the substances that are used in doping and its control.
The first part introduces readers to the topic of anti-doping, combining science and safety issues, and discussing in detail various prohibited substances as well as current methods used by athletes to improve their physical performance. The second part continues with different sample matrices, while the third and final section provides a look at future doping misuses and new types of detection.
Of interest to those working in analytics, sport, chemistry, medicine, and international agencies for doping control.

Angelique Wammes is a postdoctoral researcher in the department of Diagnostics at the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology (IZI) in Leipzig, Germany. She studied chemistry at the University of Utrecht and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands, followed by a PhD at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. After obtaining her PhD degree in the field of food safety in 2014, where she developed biosensors to detect food allergens, she continued her research at the Fraunhofer Institute IZI and combined her background in diagnostics and her passion for sports. She is currently working in the field of anti-doping research and working on a device for the detection of IGF-1 misuse in athletes.
