Rezensionen / Stimmen
This is a follow-up to the Grade 0-1 Up-Grade! Pop and contains five more original pieces by Pam Wedgwood and ten new arrangements of well known pop tunes. The harmonies are slightly more complex, and although they would bridge the gap from Grade 1 to 2, I have found that they are also good for post Grade 2 pupils who want to learn something they know quickly and easily and even higher grade pupils who want to lighten up a little. With authentic sounding arrangements of Last Request (Paolo Nutini), Over the Rainbow (Eva Cassidy version) and Too Lost in You (Sugababes), my Grade 2 standard 14-year-old pupil dived in and thoroughly enjoyed learning the pieces and playing them to her friends. There is also an excellent arrangement of Dancing Queen (ABBA) which should go down well in the wake of the Mamma Mia film and a stylish version of Elton John's Can You Feel the Love Tonight (Lion King). Some excellent pieces by Wedgwood are included and proved as popular as the pop tune arrangements with my pupils. All the pieces are hugely enjoyable to play, whether you are between the grades as Faber suggest, or looking for some seriously skilful arrangements of popular tunes.
