This catalogue of additions to the British Library includes over 1000 volumes from the archives of publishers Macmillan and Company; the papers of Sir Alexander Fleming; correspondence and papers of Sir Henry Wood, founder of the Philharmonic concerts; and the archive of book auctioneers Hodgson and Co. Political material acquired includes papers of William Blathwayt, Secretary at War 1683-1704, and of Lt Gen Sir Charles Napier, Governor of Sind, both supplementing collections already held by the Library. Two illuminated manuscripts, the "York Psalter" and "La Somme Le Roy" are among medieval manuscipts bequeathed by Dr E.G. Millar, formerly Keeper of Manuscripts. Modern literary manuscripts are also well represented, in particular by papers of British poets acquired through the Arts Council, while a fragment of Keats' lost play "Otho the Great" was discovered among the collection of autographs formerly exhibited with portraits at the National Portrait Gallery.
