This review examines trends and developments in the forest products markets and related policies in the UN Economic Commission for Europe region (Europe, North America and the Commonwealth of Independent States) during the period 2006-2007. It covers topical issues within the forest and forest industries sector, as well as cross-sectoral influences relating to energy and the environment. A major issue present throughout the review is that of climate change, with forests in the UNECE region having sustained damage from windstorms, fire and insects, all of which can be attributed at least partly to climate change.
