The natural world is the theme for the poems in this collection. It includes poems about the countryside, the sea, the changing seasons and that good old British favourite, the weather.
Many of the poems were inspired by walks in the countryside, for example, along the lanes of Devon and the South West Coast Path or amongst the Lake District fells. Some are narrative poems, some are descriptions of particular rural places, and others more generally describe the countryside observed, or the feelings engendered, whilst being out in the open air.

Growing up in rural South Devon, with cows grazing the other side of her garden fence and a view of Dartmoor across the neighbouring fields, the author's love of the countryside stems from a very young age. Childhood walking holidays with her parents and brother furthered her enjoyment of being out in the open air, and instilled a love of walking which is still enjoyed today.
Writing is another lifelong passion, from simple childhood stories to journal accounts and poetry. Her love of walking in the countryside has provided great inspiration for her poetry writing, in particular. Over thirty years of teaching, especially those spent in a rural primary school, have also provided invaluable memories to assist the creative process.
She is married with two grown-up children and a small energetic dog, who ensures she continues to practise her love of walking.
