The contributors to Cuba and the Caribbean focus on trends in the international and regional affairs of the Caribbean nations in the 1990s, with special attention given to the reintegration of Cuba into the hemispheric community. Many of the 13 essays in this volume were presented at a multinational workshop involving scholars from Cuba, Venezuela, the United States, France, Puerto Rico, and other countries. The articles provide a comprehensive framework for understanding the dynamics of a complex region confronting globalization, the formation of trade blocs, and international crime.
Rezensionen / Stimmen
A collection of important essays that intelligently and perceptively explore the bewildering complexity of the contemporary Caribbean, and especially the way that the foreign policies of Cuba and the United States, individually and mutually, compound the issues of interstate relations across the region. -- Franklin W. Knight, Johns Hopkins University
