First published in the 1950s, this is an account of the domination of the author's household by a family of Siamese cats, and is the sequel to "Cats in the Belfry", which is being republished simultaneously. After the death of the Toveys' first Siamese, Sugieh, her offspring Solomon and Sheba stayed on in charge of the Tovey home, doggedly determined to keep the Siamese flag flying. Fame went to their heads when they appeared on television, and Solomon took to making appearances in the grand manner with a Rex Harrison walk. Sheba stayed out all night and swore she'd been kidnapped. And the Toveys gathered other hilarious characters around them, too - both human and animal.
