This is a highly practical, inexpensive x-ray atlas which covers the common injuries in children presenting to the A & E department. It provides guidance on: radiological interpretation of films, with an atlas layout; the incidence of fractures at different ages; appropriate films for suspected injuries; and, diagnostic pitfalls due to radiographic appearances. In addition, the inclusion of brief technical notes ensure safe practice, i.e. the correct positioning and handling of an injured child; correct requests for x-rays from the radiographers. If a child is mismanaged the outcome can be extremely serious and even result in permanent disability.
