This book is an examination of the police in Britain today. It looks at the way policing has changed over the last 25 years from the neighbourhood "bobby on the beat" to high technology policing, barricaded into armoured transit vans with helicopters, increasing use of guns and American policing techniques. The book, written by a former detective will tell this story through case-studies - true crimes which exemplify how Britain is policed for example Blair Peach, Maxwell Confait, the miners' strike, Wapping and the Moors Murders. Less well-known cases will also be personally investigated by the author.
