Let this two-volume proceedings provide you with state-of-the-art guidance on the prediction, prevention, and treatment of acidic and metalbearing drainage. Each year our knowledge of the environmental behavior of mine wastes - and the quantification of effective mitigative measures - broadens. Our expanding knowledge is the result of the application and integration of scientific principles from many fields, including geology, physics, geochemistry, hydrology, and biology. Understanding quantitative descriptions and measure of what works and what does not work is critical, especially in light of increase globalization of mining and the closing of mature operations in the western and southeastern United States. This text addresses these issues, focusing on differing approaches to the prediction and management of acid drainage in semi-arid and arid environments. More that 150 papers are included in the volumes, as well as a color appendix and complete subject and author indexes.
