The rapid development of new dental materials and their use in different applications, together with the expansion of postgraduate education has created the need this book, which concentrates on the needs of the postgraduate student. New sections have been added to all chapters, and well-known experts have contributed chapters on orthodontics, endodontics, and periodontology and oral surgery. Approaching the science of dental materials from the clinician's point of view, materials are discussed in relation to clinical procedures, concentrating on properties which affect both their handling at the chairside and their subsequent behaviour in service. The first part covers the general properties of dental materials, while the second follows a sequence of clinical procedures, starting with the examination of the patient. The book also includes cross-referenced sources of proprietary materials. Although aimed primarily at the postgraduate, "The Clinical Handling of Dental Materials" also includes much to interest the dental undergraduate and should prove a worthwhile purchase for both trainees and clinicians.
