Gary's looking for love in all the wrong places... But he hasn't given up hope yet!
He's shy. He's sweet. He's got great taste in music. He can even be pretty funny... Sometimes. But Gary is no lady's man. While his friend Michael seems to be able to effortlessly pick up women wherever he goes, Gary can't quite work up the confidence to make a move. But now that he's unexpectedly reconnected with old co-worker Emily, maybe this is Gary's moment to shine? But what about the cute French girl he met on a crowded bus? And then there's also the yoga-loving vegetarian in line at the local burger joint...
With endearing characters and hilariously awkward situations, Gary: King of the Pickup Artists is a refreshingly honest romantic comedy, a relatable and deeply funny look at modern dating that's charming and cringe-worthy in equal measure!

Luc Bossé founded Éditions Pow Pow in 2010. Yves, le roi de la cruise (the French version of Gary: King of the Pickup Artists) was among the first books he published. Since then, Éditions Pow Pow and its English-language imprint Pow Pow Press have kept him quite busy, but he did manage to release the tongue-in-cheek Comment faire de l'argent (How to Make Money) and a second volume in the saga of Yves/Gary. He lives in Montréal.
Alexandre Simard published his first illustrated book at the age of seven. It received warm reviews, except from his younger brother, who couldn't read yet. Alexandre later studied film at university. He wrote a few screenplays, none of which were made into films. Alexandre Simard's debut graphic novel Yves, le roi de la cruise (published in English as Gary: King of the Pick-up Artists), won the Expozine Best Comic Award in 2010, and was followed in 2018 by a sequel, Yves, fidèle à lui-même. He lives in Montréal and is currently working on a few new projects.
