This book is intended for those interested in the history of mathematics or statistics; though it assumes a strong background in mathematics, it will also be useful for statisticians. Oskar Sheynin's exposition is based chiefly on his own investigations, published in the last 35 years, and a 2009 monograph. He concludes his observations with the axiomatization of probability and the birth of real mathematical statistics, i.e., at Kolmogorov and Fisher.
