Cardiovascular diseases are among the most widespread ailments globally, including in our Republic. Notably, conditions such as high blood pressure (hypertension), atherosclerosis (caused by fat particles accumulating in the blood vessels), ischemic heart disease, and its severe forms-angina and myocardial infarction-occupy a significant place. According to the European Society of Cardiology, ischemic heart disease affects approximately 30,000 to 40,000 people per million of the population. In the United States, over 11 million people suffer from ischemic heart disease, with more than 500,000 deaths recorded annually. These numbers indicate that cardiovascular diseases remain one of the primary factors impacting public health in the 21st century. The main reasons behind this include the unparalleled advancement of science and technology, reduced physical labor, and irregular consumption of high-calorie foods. Physical inactivity, along with excessive intake of fatty, sugary, and salty foods, leads to obesity and the development of atherosclerosis in blood vessels. Therefore, the onset of these diseases is closely linked to dietary habits.
