Women and Their Fathers

By the author of "When You and Your Mother Can't Be Friends", this is an examination of the relationship between father and daughter. The book argues that is fathers, much more than mothers, who determine what it means to be a "girl", and how comfortable she is - or is not - in her own sexual skin; and that fathers have a more profound impact on a woman's sexual and romantic choices and relationships. Drawing on hundreds of interviews with women and fathers, as well as on research and recent study, the book is an exploration of how the father-daughter relationship sets the stage for a woman's future romantic and sexual choices, how it forms her sense of herself as a woman, and how it shapes our culture and even our governmental policies regarding women, children and families. It also looks at how fathers and daughters see themselves and each other.
