Lithium in Biology and Medicine

Apart from its well-known uses in psychiatry, lithium is being increasingly applied in many branches of medicine, such as cancer therapy, haematology and bone marrow transplantation. In addition, lithium is gaining recognition as a nutritionally essential trace element. Epidemiological studies indicate that it may even play a role in human and criminal behaviour.
