Rembrandt's Landscapes

Rembrandt dominated Holland's Golden Age of painting. Although landscape was not his primary interest, his drawings and prints have endured as archetypes of Dutch landscape. Both convey the look and feel of the Dutch countryside in a variety of ways, ranging from cursory yet evocative sketches to complex, highly finished compositions. The works in the volume reveal Rembrandt's deep understanding of all the moods of the Dutch countryside.
