This book commemorates two "Titans" of 20th century book design, Jan Tschichold and Giovanni Mardersteig. Hans Schmoller tells the story of two men who from obscure beginnings rose to become influential typographers of the 20th century, Tschichold as chief designer at Penguin Books and Mardersteig as founder of the Officina Bodoni. Illustrated with 30 examples of their work, this book has been printed at the Stamperia Valdonega, Verona, by Martino, Mardersteig's son. The late Hans Schmoller was a well-known book designer and followed Tschichold as chief designer at Penguin Books. This book was prepared for press by Abe Lerner.
