This book provides an account of the events preceding the Gulf War, with particular emphasis on the diplomatic background to the conflict. It includes detailed descriptions of meetings between Saddam Hussein and King Hussein of Jordan, of confrontation between Hussein and Mubarek, of meetings between Hussein and the American Ambassador in Baghdad, as well as accounts of the various views held in the state department during the fateful months before war broke out.
