Buildwas Abbey (2003 Edition)

The ruins of Buildwas Abbey in Shropshire are among the most important Cistercian remains in England. This illustrated guidebook conducts the visitor on a tour, presenting the abbey as a living space in which everyday events continued in an atmosphere of pious observance. Although never a particularly wealthy house, Buildwas was the home of a remarkable library, from which over 40 books survive.
