Volume 8 of the Beiträge zur Islamischen Kunst und Archäologie, edited by Markus Ritter and Nourane Ben Azzouna, with Sabiha Göloglu, presents fresh research from the Ernst Herzfeld colloquia in Vienna and Strasbourg. The first part deals with architecture and urbanism, painting and illustrated books of the nineteenth and eighteenth and centuries in the Ottoman Empire, in Qajar Iran and in Bosnia under Austrian administration. The second part presents contributions on urbanism and art objects in Arab Spain, glass in early Islamic Egypt, stucco and calligraphy in Ilkhanid and Safavid Iran, and on modern urbanism in Kuwait.
