The renaissance of ecclesiological thinking among American and Canadian Protestants since the thirties comes to light. In marked contrast to their European partners, theologians of the Church in North America were forced to wrestle theologically with the historical and sociological factors underlying ecclesiastical unity and diversity. From their common efforts in a succession of ecumenical study-groups and commissions emerge the outlines of a new theological method integrating dogma and experience, theory and practice.
Rezensionen / Stimmen
«Riplinger has done an immense service in searching out and sifting through material that more than merits retention and systematic consideration. ... Riplinger's study deserves a place on the shelves of every personal, institutional, and scholarly library seriously dedicated to ecumenical studies.» (Ronald Modras, Journal of Ecumenical Studies)
