Susan Richards, a Russian scholar, travels through Russia talking to ordinary Russian people about their lives and how they perceive the changes which have been made under Gorbachev's rule -if, indeed, anything has changed. In this book she explores the Soviet people after the effects of Perestroika, to see how they and their country are coming to terms with the past and how they are beginning to conceive a different future for themselves.
