The last 20 years have brought a great advance in the standard of card-play in bridge, both at club and tournament level. Many players nowadays feel confident in their ability to deal with all the routine problems they may encounter at the bridge table, but there are still areas which can be classified as "blind spots" for the normally competent player - areas in which only the expert can be expected to do the right thing time after time. In addressing these, the authors pass on the "tricks of the trade", the distillation of experience which gives the expert his advantage in competitive play. The first half of the book is devoted to declarer play and the second half to defence.
