The architecture of Víctor Rahola is rich in a multiplicity of evident references. As we explore it we discover, one after another, a whole host of allusions: to Mies, to Neutra, to Moneo. These are strong, clear, explicit references, conscious and deliberate, at times simultaneous and even mutually contradictory, almost aleatory. In his works Rahola revisits the places of architecture, of his own personal history of architecture, but he revisits them with a very personal gaze: that of the quiet man. Rahola's simplicity and ability to feel enable the extensive repertoire of modern references that he incorporates to coexist harmoniously in his work with the indigenous vernacular of the traditional architecture of Ibiza. Rahola is capable of empathizing with the place, with the material, with the hillside he colonizes, and at the same time with the texture of a wall of masonry or reinforced concrete or the bioclimatic behaviour and the sculptural effect of the brise-soleil. And he does so in a way that is at once emotional and emotive.
