Montserrat Caballe

Written in close collaboration with its subject, this biography charts the 35-year career of the Spanish diva, Montserrat Caballe, from its origins in provincial German opera-houses to the point at which her fame has expanded beyond opera through the unlikely, but highly successful collaboration with Freddie Mercury. The first part of the book offers an often amusing account of Caballe's life, drawing on her own memories and interviews with leading conductors, producers and singers. This is followed by a study of her art, detailing all major performances and recordings.
