Neville Peat, a Dunedin writer and photographer, is the author of over 30 books covering themes of geography, biography, history and the natural environment. In 2007 he was awarded New Zealand's largest literary prize, the Creative New Zealand Michael King Writers' Fellowship, for a book about the Tasman Sea. In the 2018 New Year Honours he was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for services to conservation.
