The approach and structure of the "Banking and Capital Markets Companion" is unique. Written with reference to industry standard materials issued by the Loan Market Association, International Swaps and Derivatives Association, and the British Bankers' Association, it offers ideal support for the Legal Practice Course developed for the City law firms and also acts as a unique one volume reference guide for practitioners. This edition has been substantially expanded to include an introduction to accounting principles, subordination, priority aspects and credit support for swaps, and completely revised and updated to take account of: Bank of England Notices (29 and 27 August 2003) on certificates of deposit and acceptances; Dematerialisation of money market instruments; Enterprise Act 2002; EU Directive on the taxation of savings income; Finance Act 2003; Land Registration Act 2002; and The Reporting of Savings Income Information Regulations 2003 (draft).
Rezensionen / Stimmen
'The book focuses on debt finance as most commercial funds are raised in this way. The borrower's and lender's objectives are examined, as is the purpose of the necessary documentation and the inherent risks in any transaction. Throughout the book, information is broken down into steps. The rest of the book looks at lending capital markets, collateral and guarantees, swaps, securitisation and taxation. The subject is not inspected in an academic vacuum: the treatment of relevant documentation is particularly helpful. The attempt by the book to provide a context for the subject warrants a cheer. A helpful Preface addresses the globalisation of financial markets, the standardisation of documentation and procedures, and the pressure of costs and risk management. This companion does an excellent job of making its subject matter undaunting to the novice and making the area easy to understand and recall. The book should be recommended as great resource for LPC students, as an entry point to the subject or as a revision aid.' The Trainee Magazine, autumn 2004
