Written by two authors who have been involved in creating theoretical foundations for the field, who have helped assess the value of this new technology relative to conventional approches, and who have worked extensively with industry on implementations, Fuzzy Control is filled with a wealth of examples and case studies. The case studies demonstrate design and implementation techniques for a variety of applications including automotive systems, robotics, and aircraft.

Stephen Yurkovich holds the rank of Professor of Electrical Engineering atThe Ohio State University. In addition to being General Chair for the 1996 IEEE Conference on Control Applications, Program Chair for the 1997 American Control Conference, and General Chair for the 1999 American Control Conference, he has held numerous positions within the IEEE Control Systems Society: an elected member of the Board of Governors (1994-1996), Vice President for Publication Activities (1995-1996), Vice President for Financial Activities (1997), President-Elect in 1998, and in 1999 will serve as President. He has been Editor-in-chief of IEEE Control Systems since 1993, and is a Senior Member of IEEE. Professor Yurkovich's research has focused on the theory and applications of control technology, in the areas of system identification and parameter set estimation for control, and fuzzy logic for control, in application areas including flexible mechanical structures, industrial control systems, and automotive systems. He has authored the book Control Systems Laboratory (1992, Kendall/Hunt).
