"The Body in Action" is a new series that provides an original approach to the workings of the human body for younger readers. Each book deals with a familiar event and describes through commissioned photographs and clear, explanatory text and artwork how our bodies function. The photographs focus on the external story and the artwork reveals what happens inside. Integrated with the text are projects for the children to do and fascinating facts. "Munching a Meal" begins with feeling a need for food and describes what happens when we eat and how food is digested. Interspersed in the text are pages on food hygiene and food nutrition, as well as project pages. "Running a Race" looks inside the body at our bones, muscles and joints, how we breathe during a race and keep going. There is an emphasis throughout on exercise and fitness.
