This companion volume to "Day-Case Anaesthesia and Sedation", edited by J.G. Whitwam, covers all aspects of sedation and analgesia in intensive care patients, including care of the terminally ill. In the past, focus on this subject has been on pharmacology and the changes of drugs in diseases states. This book challenges this approach by aiming to be disease-orientated and including explanations of drug changes and the body's response to the drugs in a particular disease. The book is divided into sections, the first covering general matters relating to sedation, and the second focusing on patient sedation.
