This work describes the functioning of cage compounds, which comprise a new class of energetic materials that are of interest as a new category of fuels (cage hydrocarbons) and as explosives and propellants (polynitropolycyclic cage compounds). Cage amines have been found to possess high levels of pharmacological activity. They are used to treat illnesses as diverse as Parkinson's Disease (and other extrapyramidal syndromes) and influenza in man.
