This exercise regime is described as the Epicurean alternative to step aerobics or to jogging oneself into eternity. The author's professed dislike of exercise but desire to retain her slim figure have led her to devise a series of exercises which she calls the "Champagne Health and Fitness Programme". The regime starts with "pressing the grapes", a warm-up, followed, glass in hand, by a series of belly dance circles to firm the stomach. A 20-minute workout then culminates in a "lotus-flower" meditation and complete relaxation. This regime is claimed to produce a sylph-like figure, while enabling you to enjoy the gastronomical pleasures - the pursuit of perfection without pain.
