Fiction Subject Headings

Olderr presents a practical guide for the working cataloguer. Based upon the author's extensive experience in cataloguing fiction, he shares a complete system for doing quality, consistent cataloguing of fiction using Library of Congress headings. The core of the work is a thesaurus of Library of Congress subject headings useful for fiction cataloguing together with extensive scope notes which differentiate between similar headings and explain how particular headings may or may not be applied to fiction. Many additional cross-references of particular value to fiction cataloguers are included. New subject headings are supplied where LCSH does not provide adequate coverage, but all added headings are congruent with the LC system so that they may be used in existing catalogues without confusion.
