This guide to Ireland is a personal account by a man described as "Ireland's master storyteller". Scouring the byways of Ireland on their bicycles, Frank O'Connor, his wife and a friend set off on a search for their country's buried past. They travelled from the Boyne Valley to the headlands of Kerry and the Connemara mountains and from country pubs to Cistercian abbeys. The result is a book packed with anecdotes, humour, details of strange meetings and the unforgettable characters they met on this journey. Frank O'Connor is the pseudonym for Michael O'Donovan (1903-1966).
