Caroline Morton is a young widow; unemployed, depressed, and hoping to get her life back on track by writing a novel about her family history. But after a year, she hasn't written the first chapter. Her ancestors, sometimes mischievous and sometimes alarming, intervene, and bring Caroline on a series of adventures to experience their challenges of coming to Nova Scotia. Caroline must find the courage to live their lives, accept their help, embrace her past, and find her new life.
