Patricia Nevins Kime was born in Fairfax, Virginia, and spent her childhood trotting the globe, living in Puerto Rico, South Africa, Malaysia, South Korea and elsewhere. Extended leaves brought her back to Washington DC, often and in 1999, she returned to the area for good when her spouse was assigned to the Pentagon. In her lifetime, she's seen Washington DC smolder in the aftermath of race riots and rise from its ashes, halt the march of urban decay, and transform itself into a vibrant center for politics, gourmet dining, and the arts. She fondly remembers the days when the Washington Redskins were Super Bowl champs and hopes they will rise again. A career journalist, Kime got her start at the Jacksonville, N.C. Daily News, covering the city and area military bases during Operation Desert Storm. She has worked for newspapers from northern Virginia to Palm Springs, Calif., and her articles have appeared in the Washington Post, USA Today, USA Weekend, Northern Virginia Magazine, Gannett Government Media weeklies, and more. She is also the author of Hidden Philadelphia & the Amish Country. She and her husband, Carl, live in Arlington, Virginia with their two sons.
